Hello all:

Attached (Please visit "Latest Updates" link) is the information for our dual tomorrow and the Centennial tournament this Friday/Saturday. Apologies for the late notice this week. This information was sent home, but as always we want to make sure it arrives in your hands as well. We expect a great showing these next couple of days. The team has been working hard on improving those areas that have allowed us to surrender close points and matches. We have also fine tuned those skills where we have been excelling. Only a few short weeks remain until we put it on the line.

Enjoy your day,

Hello all:

Just a quick reminder for those of you not at practice this morning. We have our team photo tomorrow at 7 a.m. This is the normal time for weight training. Unfortunately this was the only time available when we rescheduled. Make sure you bring you workout shirts and shorts for the photo. Additionally, we have loaded the matches from our duel against Byron Nelson to the team video page. If you have not yet registered for the team video page, you will have to do so to be able to view the matches as unauthorized users cannot view our matches. We will have detailed information on our rematch duel and tournament information soon.

Enjoy your day,

Hello all:

We have had a great week of practice these past few days. During these days of semester exams, wrestling and athletics provide us a great outlet to expend our energy and it is the balance of athletics and academic that allow us to not over-focus on any single task. We have found great success in stepping up our competition level. It has provided us a realistic opportunity to become aware of our strengths and weaknesses as we begin to turn our focus toward the end of the season. As we continue this focus remember that it is the journey and our final destination, not any single stop along the way, that matters most. We have progressed well this year and there is no reason for us to stop that progression any time soon.

Attached is the meet information for tomorrow's duel and this Saturday's tournament. We apologize for the delay in getting out the duel information. We had some issues with Rockwall's email system. Below is the listing of those wrestlers who will be competing at each of the competitions. This is the final weekend where we are limited to the numbers we can enter. The next three weekends will allow everyone to compete. Beyond that, it depends on how we do if we continue to compete.

Hello all:

Last week we took on the challenge of our first district competitions and overall the team attacked that challenge. Our district duel competition was divided in to three days. The first of those three days was here at Heritage against Gunter and Prosper. The team demonstrated great aggressiveness and technical competitiveness in winning both of those duels. Our next district duel competition occurred last Friday at Centennial High. On Friday we competed against four teams with an advantage in experience, but overall our ability to compete and desire to succeed can through. We contended in matches that on paper we should not have been able to wrestle. For the District Dual tournament we only had ten weight classes represented. Against Centennial we won four of those ten weight classes and lost one of the remaining matches by one point. The highlight of that duel was Jesus Salazar earning five takedowns to win 13-5. Against Frisco High we won three of our ten matches, this time with two losses coming from a combined three points. The highlight of this duel was Roger Hipolito scoring seven points in the final period, including a takedown with under ten seconds remaining, to win the match 12-10. Against Wakeland, defending district champs, we also had three of our ten matches result in victory, notable Caleb Higgs pinned his opponent early in the second period. We concluded the day against Newman Smith winning five of our ten matches and finishing the day with a team victory. On Saturday we concluded the District duel competition wrestling Liberty and Creekview. The second day we were down a couple of wrestlers but compiled four more victories from the remaining wrestlers. The girls also competed on Saturday experiencing some quality competition and gaining an understanding of what the best in the district look like. Overall the boy's team finished 6th out of the 9 teams in our district. It was a meaningful experience and one that will certainly payoff as we look toward the future.

We have uploaded the matches from the Wylie tournament and are currently uploading those matches from last week's competition. Just a reminder that you will be unable to view those matches unless you register an account. The Flowrestling site is a great asset for multiple reasons. They provide great coverage of high school, collegiate, and international wrestling. They also provide the free team webpage that allows use to view our matches. These matches are restricted to be viewed by only those members approved by the coaching staff.

This week the boys are scheduled to duel Rockwall Heath on Thursday and both the boys and girls will compete at the Marcus Somerstein Classic at Bishop Dunne Catholic. Currently we are still waiting to hear from the coaches at Rockwall Heath, so we do not have any information regarding the duel. We will be sending that information as soon as we receive it. As this is finals week we have modified the practice schedule. Please look at the updated January schedule attached. This weekend's tournament is similar to last weekend in that we are limited to whom we can enter. We will know who is being entered Wednesday after practice. Friday's morning practice is required for all those competing this weekend. All other wrestlers are welcome to attend. A reminder that if you miss a practice then that will affect your ability to compete in tournaments where entries are limited.

Thanks for all that you do.

Enjoy your day,
